What is Fairtrade?
Fairtrade is a rapidly growing international movement to guarantee that producers in poor countries receive a fair price for their goods. In reality, Fairtrade ensures that workers in the developing world benefit from a good wage and more positive working conditions. It also regulates that the price they receive for their goods reflects the true cost of production. Fairtrade also pushes for investment in safe water supplies, sanitation, healthcare and education. The Fairtrade Foundation was established to enhance the stature of the poor and often downtrodden producers in the developing world. The Foundation encourages UK industry and consumers to support fairer trade and where possible, to purchase Fairtrade products. Products that carry the FAIRTRADE Mark, the only independent consumer guarantee, ensure that producers in the developing world get a better deal.

Tea Tree Tea supports all Fairtrade activity and, although we are a very young organisation, we will be actively campaigning for fair tea trade the world over.
Currently we can only provide certain Fairtrade tea products, but in time watch how this range will grow. We also use a family run tea merchant – not a multi-national conglomerate. The estates our supplier buys from are all recognised and reputable tea estates. As we are honest and because we supply ‘speciality’ teas, we will not put the Fairtrade logo on anything we can’t confirm as genuine Fairtrade produce.
